My camera lens got wet during the snowstorm, and it's having trouble focusing lately. I'm thinking of taking it in to get it cleaned? Any tips?

Sorry, no tips except to say once a gust of wind blew my lumix (on a tripod) over and pushed the lens in. I mailed it to Panasonic and got it back 3 weeks later. ($150)
I missed it so bad, I've been grateful for all my cameras ever since.
(I was later told that I should always keep the front leg of my tripod lower to keep it from tipping over.)
