A Man and His Pick-Up

That's a sacred bond right there, one I'm guessing a lot of men feel. My husband bought this very-used pick-up today for hauling stuff. The idea is to sell it when we're done with house projects, but check with me in five years...no, make that ten...to see if it's still in our possession.

Daily Grind Mascots

After a third night of restless sleep, I caved and stopped by for a cup of store-bought Stumptown coffee at the Daily Grind on Halsey. The lady in the background seemed distraught that the second Barbie who had been wearing the walnut-cap got stolen this week.

Frost

Roux

My husband took this action shot of my second attempt at getting the roux for my gumbo dark enough. I chickened out, stopping the process, shortly after this was taken.

Rope: part 1

This post reminded me of how photograph-able rope is. I took this photo at the butterfly exhibit this summer at the zoo, just barely managing to get part of the butterfly in the frame (those buggers aren't still for long), but this photo ended up being my favorite from that day.

Someone got wrangled into introducing Tony Wolk at the reading of his new book about Abe Lincoln.

Rainboot Thief

Someone tried to steal my favorite boots today, but I'm not naming any names:

They're perfect, Amanda!

Scary Cat

I'm not sure what had happened to this old guy in his long life-time but that stare of his sent chills down my spine, and I like cats.
